Message 70 MPH on the highway, you're cruising. 70 MPH on a side street, you're a menace. An electric go kart barely pushing 30 MPH will get your heart rate pounding if the track is small and tight.

You say you have no racing experience, so it's not surprising you can't imagine anything under 100 MPH making your adrenaline rush. But it's not about absolute speed. It's about how quickly your brain is processing input and sensory (over)load. One G corner on a roller coaster is quaint. One G corner in your car is impressive.

I once got a dogfight flight session as a birthday gift. Cool! I was all about Maverick and Ice. Goose can sit his ass in the back and hang on. When I saw the plane (a tandem Varga VG21), I was dejected. I thought, "Oh well. At least it's free." It ended up being one of the coolest experiences ever.

If they have strapped me in an FA18, I'm sure the speed would have been thrilling, but no way I could have done anything more than hold it straight and level. In the Varga, I had 3 kills out of 4 engagements, and Goose (the instructor) in the front seat to get us back on the ground and to make sure I didn't do anything stupid in the air.

Try out an HPDE. And try out a drag strip. You'll probably enjoy both.
